🏠 About Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg is the destination that defines a Central Texas Hill Country weekend — 50+ wineries within 30 miles, a charming Main Street with specialty shops and restaurants, the National Museum of the Pacific War, and the German heritage that makes the city genuinely distinctive among Texas small towns.
Wine Road 290 is the primary attraction for many visitors: the Hill Country AVA wine trail that runs along US-290 between Fredericksburg and Johnson City, hosting wineries ranging from small boutique operations to the large destination estates like Becker Vineyards. The quality has improved dramatically over the past decade and Texas wines now compete nationally.
The Nimitz Museum honors Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, a Fredericksburg native, with one of the most significant WWII Pacific theater museums in the country. Nimitz himself grew up in Fredericksburg's historic hotel building that is now part of the museum campus.
