💬 About Hutto Hippo Haven Trail
Hutto is famous throughout Central Texas for one thing above all else: hippos. The hippo became Hutto's mascot in the early 1900s after a circus hippo escaped and was spotted in the area, and today the town celebrates that quirky heritage with the Hippo Haven Trail — a self-guided walking tour of over 20 hippo statues placed throughout downtown Hutto, each decorated by local artists with unique themes. It's a completely free, family-friendly activity that takes about an hour to complete and makes Hutto one of the most distinctive small-town destinations in Central Texas. Kids especially love it.
